Top 5 Red Carpet Party Planning Ideas

Top 5 Red Carpet Party Ideas

Why not throw a red carpet party? Sounds like fun, no? You can make sure you invite all your friends to dress up and watch an old film or have a birthday celebration that you get fancy with. Here are five ideas that will help make your red carpet party even better than it would be if you didn’t have our input.

1. Buy or rent an actual red carpet.

This is key. Be sure that you find a real red carpet to make your party authentic. You can either buy your own Hollywood-style red carpet and keep it for further events or just rent your red carpet runner from a professional. See if you can get the carpet as long as possible, so that your guests can walk from their cars to the door of your home on the carpet. Hopefully, you can find one online or at a party store for a reasonable price. This is key to setting the mood.

2. Dress code.

If you plan on inviting people online (and who doesn’t do that these days?), then list your dress code on the event as either “black tie” or “costume vintage.” You can think of places to tell your guests about where they might find some cool costume clothes or old tuxedos for the men. It’s great to feature the guest of honor, too, if you have one, by allowing her to suggest some stores for clothing purchase or rental.

3. Good, appropriate music.

If you’re not going to watch a movie, and even if you will and then maybe dance afterwards, get some old-school Hollywood tunes to make your party hop along. You can hire a band, if you’re so inclined and have the space, but you may be fine with some old tunes from the ’20s and ’30s to get your guests hopping. If you want to save some big $, rather than hiring a DJ, just rent some professional DJ equipment and do the spinning yourself. Heck, anything up to the ’60s is probably fine, too. Just make sure it’s cool and vintage.

4. Make the guest list.

So you want to invite some people. Maybe choose people whom you don’t know that well, to make it more of a meet-and-greet, since it will likely be a fun evening for anyone. You never know who you might find by looking through your phone, and if someone you know has a special skill, like comedy or poetry, invite them to read or perform at your event. You could also recruit a good band this way, too, possibly.

5. Play games.

Be sure you have some fun games on hand for your guests, and maybe play some interactive games that don’t require too much effort on your part, like charades or bingo. If you want to play Oscar Bingo, which is popular, you can pick times when the actors on TV do something funny or emotional to erase your cards. This is great for an Oscar-viewing party, but not for too many other times. Ordinary bingo is great, though.
